The Hero Code is an influential book that should be foundational to anyone who wants to build virtuous habits. The book gives a code of conduct all of us should build our character around, and comes from a man who deserves honor and respect. Author William H. McRaven served as a four-star admiral before he began writing books of his experiences and lessons. His most notable achievement is organizing and overseeing the execution of Operation Neptunes’s Spear, the special ops raid that led to the killing of Osama Bin Laden. Needless to say, his book comes from a place of knowledge thats been tried and tested. McRaven successfully shares his four decades worth archive in a captivating and educational manner, keeping each part of his moral code independent but equal. Each chapter starts with a potent quote that matches the moral lesson of the hero code, a feature that fits the nature. What’s unlike most any author is that he has an amazing story from his own life that parallels the attribute of the specific chapter. And in almost every chapter he introduces a new hero that shows just what it means to live by the hero code. This book is genuinely one everyone should read, as it reveals the kind of life style we should all strive for. Although it may be difficult to match the accolades of McRaven or other idols, following the Hero Code is a great way to get momentum in the right direction.
